
Continuous Glucose Monitor Use

Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) have become more commonplace in recent years as more people seek individualized data on glucose levels to inform their health decisions, including treatment and management of diabetes. In 2023, there were also changes in Medicare and Georgia Medicaid policy to cover CGMs for more people with diabetes that meet certain criteria. Using Georgia APCD claims data, we track the increase in patients using CGM from 2021 to 2024, particularly among people with Type 2 diabetes using insulin. We look at initiation rates of current CGM users relative to policy changes and look at the demographics of current CGM users. See the report below for more information.
